Since early 2013, ATG has been disseminating information regarding the American Land Title Association Best Practices (ALTA Best Practices).
ALTA created the seven "pillars" in response to regulatory and industry demand for more uniform processes in the title and settlement services industry. Title agencies and underwriters across the country have adopted and are implementing some variation of these standards.
How the Training and Procedures Department Serves You
The ATG Training and Procedures Department conducts agent consultations on a regular basis. You will notice some changes in the process going forward, as we have incorporated Best Practices compliance into our routine. We are aware of the additional burdens these new requirements place on your office and have made every effort to make the process simple. Our team of consultants has extensive training in the new procedures. The goal of each Training and Procedures consultation is identify ways to protect you and your clients. This includes an emphasis on identifying ways your office can protect non-public personal information and meet lender demands. For a definition of non-public personal information, and more information about account reconciliation, see Implementation Tools and Background Information for Agents, below. After your Training and Procedures consultation, we will follow up with you and your staff to ensure that your office has achieved that goal.
